Common questions

What is Domain Rating?

Domain Rating (DR) is Ahrefs' 0–100 logarithmic score of a site's backlink profile strength. Higher DR usually means better-quality, more numerous backlinks — and stronger SEO authority. It's the single most-cited proxy for "how much SEO juice does a link from this site carry?"

Is this free? What's the catch?

Genuinely free, no signup, no rate limit beyond what Ahrefs imposes. We pay nothing — Ahrefs opened a free public DR endpoint that we proxy with a 30-day cache. The "catch" is we hope you'll explore our catalog of 300+ directories ranked by DR.

Why is DR sometimes different from what Ahrefs' main tool shows?

The free endpoint is rounded and may lag the live Ahrefs index by a day or two. Differences of ±2 are normal. If you need the exact value, the paid Ahrefs Site Explorer is authoritative.

How can I raise my DR?

Get listed on relevant, higher-DR directories and communities. Each contextual dofollow backlink from a higher-DR domain compounds. Browse our catalog sorted by DR and start with the top-tier ones in your category. If you'd rather not do the legwork, Submit For Me handles 50+ submissions for you.

Do you store the domains I check?

We cache the DR value (not the URL itself) in our database for 30 days so we can serve the same result faster next time. Recent checks live in your browser's localStorage, never sent to us.
